how do i get a rena xp3 filter working ??

i have just bought a rene XP 3 filter for my tank,
the oscars were just making far too much mess.

anyway how the hell do i get it going, im tearing my hair out here.

i have plugged it all in wirled it up its under the tank the spray bar and erm sucky in bit is in the water both submerged and i have filled the filter box within 1 inch of the top with water. (the filter media is in already)

there is a leaver on the top of the filter box im not sure what to do with this.

when i plug it in all i get is a tut-tut-tut-tut-tut-tut-tut-tut-tut-tut-

does anyone know the problem help a newbie guys

Make sure arm on top is up until hose is filled. Push arm in and let filter fill pushing air out. When air starts stops comming out and filter is completely full plug in.

The lever on top is to release the hoses from the filter. You need to fill the supply hose with water. Although this has a pump, it stillrelies on a siphon action to fill the filter with water.

Did you buy new or used? The directions that come with are pretty explaintory.

tried this but still the tut tut tut

its full with water anyway if i put anymore in the screwcap at the top it just filters out into the tank,

i then try to put the plug in an tut tut tut

what else do i need to do ?

Impeller may be jammed or damaged. Take the head off and remove and clean the impellar. Also don't put any water in the filter body, when you plug the hoses in add lock the lever, you should see water flowing into the filter.

Make sure that the top tray has a cover with a ring on it. Make sure that the ring is facing UP so it can press into the "O" ring on the lid.

There website is no help, has no filter info at all. Here is the phone number from the instruction manual 1-800-847-0659 but I don't know if they have any techinal support or not

im in the uk an dont fancy ringing america right now


ive been at this for hours, an there damn water all over the carpet

left hose - spray bar is in the water submerged.

right hose with cap for filling on the right,

i have half filled the canister with water *media already in*
it says i must put the lever upwards, then fill it with water through the cap at the top....done this + put the cap back on.

then it says i must put the lever down and wait a few mins to let air out, and water in.....but no water is going in. i can see an air bubble go up but thats it nothing special just a little bubble and nothing going back down.

what do i need to do now?
