how do i get a rena xp3 filter working ??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If I ever have trouble priming a canister, I just jam a powerhead on the intake.. force water through the canister to fill it and prime it, and release when its flowing..

If it dosn't work after that, you probably have an issue with the canister..

Did you take the top of the filter apart and clean the impellar and make sure it is spinning freely?

Also make sure your hoses are connected corrrectly, intake should be light gray and output is the dark gray.

yep i have checked them :(

still not working

If you start with empty filter and primed intake hose, when you attach the hoses into the filter and pull the lever down to lock the hose connection. You should see water entering the filter and pushing air into your tank. Does this happen?

yes that happens but stops after about 10 seconds

When it stops how full is the filter?

about half full, ive tried pressing down the cut off so its open then lifting the lid a little to suck air in so the water flows better, but once i nearly fill it, reseal it with the clamps it just doesnt work still :(

I just don't know what more to tell ya, with both the ones I have, I hook up the empty filter to the primed hose, pull the lever down. It then fills with water while push alot of air into the aquarium. After it fills to 99%(I can still see a little air). I plug in and it makes a little racket, quiets down and works just fine.

I wish there was more I could tell you.

You may try to remove the spary bar and clean, make sure no obstrucion. The filter should fill all the way with water, you shouldn't have to lift the top to get it to fill.

Also make sure the priming cap is on all the way so there is no air being pulled into the intake hose.

got it working now,

finally :)

thanks for the help

Ransom :)
