I was wondering the most effective way to filter my tank in order to get the water as clear as possible. Let me fill you in on how the tank is at the moment;

Age: roughly 5 weeks (completely cycled)
Size: 75gal Glass 48x18x20
Filtration: DIY Sump w/ 700gph pump
Occupants: (3) P.Bass 5-6", (1) Hi Fin Pleco 4.5"
Setup: 3/4"-1" river rock media, (2) Driftwood, some live plants
Parameters: (checked every other day) Ammomia=0ppm, Nitrite=0ppm, Temp=82F, pH=7.6

The water is currently clear, but is slightly tinted from one of the pieces of driftwood. It is clear but not as clear as some of the tanks I have seen on this site.
I also have an older Diatom Vortex filter but do not have it set up...

any input would be appreciated

diatom filter will do it!

With my diatom filter that I'm selling...

Diatom filters work great...

Also filters with media rated in single digit microns helps with very fine particles...

UV lights also help clarify water...

all of these are only worth using when you have overwise very clean water...

Purigen got rid of the tinge in my tank.

It took a few days but it has remained crystal clear for about 3 months now.:)

since you have a sump just put a layer of white felt on top of the drip tray. Or 2 layers if you want to get serious.

felt does a real nice job of micron filtation.

they sell peices at walmart for 29 cents a sheet 8"x11".

Or they sell better thicker felt at fabric shops for a couple bucks.

Purigen or carbon should help with driftwood tannins. Micron filtration (including diatom filtration and the aforementioned felt) will clean up any tiny particulates.

UV and plenty of low micron filtration. Also Diatom and carbon / purigen. I use a combination of all of them my water is very clear.

remove drift wood is my advice added on to above

felt is a tannin magnet and diatom catches tannins really well to.
