Seems simple enough, right? Unfortunately my 3 yr old Sweet Dumeril's Boa has to go. I'm willing to let her go to the right person for next to nothing but I don't know how to go about finding a qualified person. My snake is a beauty but despite being only 3-4 ft long now will grow to a strong 6 ft plus. Dumeril's are ambush predators so care must be taken when entering her enclosure. Although she is perfectly tame you don't want to be sticking your hand in front of her face when she is sitting in her tub.:D
I do not visit any reptile sites and mfs is aimed at fish, not reptiles. Craigslist is not an option; there are way too many punks hanging out on craigslist.
So does anyone have any advice finding a good home for a Dumeril's?

aww, dumeril's are gorgeous, sorry to hear she has to go :( i've got a zoo as it is, but if i were local i'd totally jump on that♥ i think your best bet would be to go to a pet store, maybe one aimed towards reptiles. or maybe even attend a herp convention nearby if there is one, that would probably work amazingly haha. shelters&animal control don't really seem like an option unless there's nothing else left. but perhaps in a petstore, you can talk to someone who might be able to give you more options [the owner perhaps will take it in/sell it] or maybe you'll see someone eying the snakes in the store & talk to them. other than that, i'm clueless; in the past when i've had to give away animals, i've always been lucky enough to know someone who wanted it x3 goodluck on finding a home for her~~

Hey! Not only punks go on craigslist. I scan throught it quite often trying to find good deals and idiot keepers(waiting for one with a burm). Also I would take him/her but I am quite adamant with my one dumeril right now and I do not desire another, but good luck!

Your close enough in location (if it's accurate) to try Joe from NJ Batman. He may have an interest in the animal, but if not, he works with a great number of people in conservation, education and the trade that he'll probably have a few great people he could point you to.

Watch out for that reptile rescue that popped up in LI recently, though. That guy is experienced but all he does is take in animals and turn around and sell them to whoever will pay the most for them. They don't end up in great homes after they go to him.

Not to derail the thread, but where are you located? I've seen quite a few burms on my craigslist lately.

New york, They are illegal without a permit but I'm sure many people disregard the law, or just don't know. This one pet store by me has 3 burms... chuckle a bit when I walk in.
