Well since i live in Arizona my tanks dry up pretty fast and if i dont fill them right away it leaves this white stuff at the top of the tank that is very hard to get rid of, idk what its called or what it is but how can i get rid of it? i have the tank empty and ready to clean.#
and yes i know the tank is very dirty thats why i wanna clean it very good!!

i always thought it was salt or from lime in water.just wet it and scrape it off with a razor.

LOL...Nice calcium deposits.;) Drain the tank completely (although you did it already...oops), use oxalic acid to clean the deposits and wash it thoroughly. I've used oxalic acid when I had a tank cleanover and had to wash it thoroughly just to be sure the residues are removed completely.

Can any household chemicals get rid of it?
What do you have in your house? I haven't tried muriatic acid so I don't know if this is okay. You could try vinegar. It's a weak acid so it won't work as effectively as most acids would.

razor blade-white vinegar.dont mess with muriatic acid unless you know what it can do.its dangerous.

CLR and a razor blade........you can run it through your coffee pot, you can use it in a tank. just make sure to rinse really well, then air dry for a day, then rinse again with water.
