Hey guys,

Today im going to go check out a wolf fish at a pet shop. They said its a "goliath" wolf fish thats 12" and costs $80. Now I know Hoplias Aimara is worth more than that. What I want to know is how do i distinguish its a Hoplias Aimara? If it isnt im going to keep it, if it is it'll obviously get to big for my 120, but at that size and price I can deff make a profit reselling it. So how do i do this?

Oki ill make sure to look out for that. Also the guy said its 12" long, at that size in a 120 how long do i have to get the sale done if its Aimara?

Go stick something in the tank. You'll know immediately.... .

Why would a shop sell a $1K fish for $80? :grinno:

I dont know, they might have messed up the name. But the guy insisted on the phone that their "Goliath" wolf fish will get between 2.5'-3' min. So im gona check it out, i want a wolf fish to begin with so in the end i dont lose, i either get a 12" mala for 80$(still good deal) or i get a 12" aimara for $80( retarded deal)

What do you guys think is a fair asking price if it is an Aimara in the end and i resell it?

$80. This site is chock full of hobbyists that enjoy the hobby, and aren't in it for profit. Most of this type of hobbyist despise fish flippers and would rather pass on a sale then knowingly line someone's pockets.

I wouldn't even worry about it being Aimara. Maybe the fish shops up there are different then they are down here, but most shops down here would tell you anything to get a sale.

No pics yet???
