Are you in NSW only reason i ask is that you cant have a barra within 500 metres of a body of water and fisheries reckon a blue line on a map no matter how the old the map, is a body of water. Keep that in mind mate.

nar mate im in queensland just outside of brisbane lucky for me lol

almost made a mistake like that before went out freshwater fishing and caught this fish that looked awesome so took him home put him in a tank and stuff and had no idea what he was so i took a photo and few weeks later went to springwood aquarium warehouse and asked them lmao well turns out if i got cuaght with it dead or alive its 150 000 doller fine turned out to be a x breeded tolapia the machete came out really quick when i got home and threw it over 3 fences from my back yard lmao so yeah always been carefull with that stuff since i hate killing fish just becuase some other idiot released it into waterways and wrecked it for the rest of us

Murray cod are VERY territorial hence the nasty welcomings and Barra are just a bit of an oddball sometimes their placid sometimes they’re aggressive/territorial depends on genetics and habitat
