My comp is about 3 yrs old now and when that starts happening with mine I jus put everything I want to save on a flashdrive.....dont know if office depot still has this sale but you could get 4g flashdrives for 12.99 which is a great deal. Once u put what u want on it jus swipe ur computer, dont know much about ur model but did ur comp come with a recovery disk, or some computers when u first turn it on, a screen will appear b4 ur desktop comes up and it may have a button u cn push to do a swipe w/o having the disk...on my computer its F10. Once I swipe mine it moves FAST, just like it did when it was brand new.....I dont even know if anything i jus said will help you, jus tryna give some ideas....good luck....I hate a SLOW COMPUTER......PEP PEEVE OF MINE.....
Ill see if I can pull this off. thanks sevendreamz

download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

If you dont have a bunch of saved programs on there that you don't use; I'd format it. The result: Brand new computer. I do this to all my computers atleast once a year. If you don't know how to do it and want to go along with what I just mentioned; PM me and i'll guide you.

more ram will help, but size isn't everything (I know, that's what she said).

What bus speed is the ram you have? If your motherboard can hold it, I would put what you have in there now, but a higher speed.

You can go the uninstall, defrag, anti-malware, blah, blah, blah route but the point is there's a central weakness in the windows operating system. Every time you install/uninstall/upgrade/anything windows will make a note in your regfile. Just as the computer writes to this, it has to look things up too... voila. More stuff, more looking, longer waits. You can help this by "cleaning up" your registry... there's only a million programs to do it, but the best way is to start over fresh every year or so. Make an install point when you load up the OS and save stuff to an external. This way every once in a while you can start fresh.

My solution? Get a mac. When it comes to the reg issue think of the difference between a central filtration system on multiple tanks versus a filter for every tank. Instead of going to the central filtration system (regfile on windows for info) it will rely on it's own personal filter (it mounts the program as a drive each time you open it). Less looking around on Macs. This is why I like them the most, way less maintenance over the long run.
