how do i use the berkley gulp 3'' minnow, smelt flavoured?

I want to know how to use the gulp 3'' smelt flavoured minnow for freshwater and saltwater, i'm taking a holiday to coff's harbour, great fishing there, apparently.
some of the things i want to know are:

what australian fish should i target?
i am currently using jigheads to rig the minnows, should i reel in like a lure, or just let it sit like a real bait?
do bream like them?
do flathead like them?
do mullet like them?
are they good for deep sea fishing?
are they edible to fish?
are smelt coloured good, or should i use pumpkinseed?
and what can i do to increase my chances of catching a fish?

Gulp! makes a good bait. in freshwater stick it on a 1/8oz jighead, let it sink, and jig it across the bottom towards you or swim it with tight jerks in towards the bank. saltwater depending on current i prefer a 3/8oz jighead, same methods apply. swimming mullet, pogy, and shrimp are all > minnow in saltwater though
