how do i wean a juruense?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You have to feed him neons and live blackworms

okay but when do i starve him for nonlive? he is comfortable now and attacks any fish includeing the payaras that come near his log but i tried garlick elixir coverd silverside on the stick today and he still refused to eat it but i will get some neons and blackworms for him for now

You don't .....
1) Feed Neons live
2) Feed a few barely alive kicking on end of tongs
3) Feed a few dead on tongs
4) Throw in a few silversides on tongs
5) Stop neons and feed only silversides
He's now eating frozen

For black worms start with live move to freeze dried slowly and insert massivore tablets on clumps of worm.
Always use freeze dried worm to feed massivore

Also feed earthworms, crawfish tails, cut pieces of tilapia fillets etc
Always on tongs so you know EXACTLY what he's eaten.

I broke mine in with frozen bloodworms , and seachem garlic...

Fed him bloodworms, after a while then Pellets, silver sides soaked in the bloodworms/garlic mix.

Now he eats everything , I buy smelt that are 6-8" long and he just gobbles them down.
also likes thawed ocean nutrition gelled cubes and hunks of beefheart. he only eats every other day now that hes matured...

finaly got him to eat i soaked a silverside in bloodworms and stuffed some into the silverside than put it on the feeding prong and stuck it in his face and he got pissed and he bit and swallowed it whole thanks to his aggressive nature:grinno:

Congratulations! I've never used prongs or feeding sticks got to keep this in mind for future reference.

Once he starts eating SS, regular stuff a pellet or two in the SS.. I stuff my smelt with Massivore.
SS are a bit smaller so use an appropriate sized pellet.

Mine comes the the right side of the tank now when he's hungry and waits for his food to be dropped in.

My fish have never eaten anything NOT off tongs .... that way I know EXACTLY what each fish has eaten each day.
