You are the frog expert so I believe you. I do think that there are some smaller arboreal frogs out there that he could keep in a tank that size though- red eyed and greens were just the first to come to mind.

I'm not an expert by any means but they are mainly what I keep and have for a few years. Damn now I hope I did not come off as a smart ass.
I had a pair of WC red eyes for a while and they were huge. The females were easily 4- 4 1/2 long. They were large frogs. Now most CB ones I see are smaller but still they can get a decent size. My Cb ones max out about 3".

Maybe a reed frog of sorts. Males are smaller, loud and active. Or some spring peepers.

gray tree frogs again are not really that small. if you are looking for WC frog that you can pillage from the local pond look for peepers but you will more than likely have a hard time finding food small enough for them to eat.

^you didn't come off as a smart ass I just don't know a whole lot about frogs other than how to keep them alive really.

But I do know that spring peepers and reed frogs are more terrestrial and will want more ground space than a 5hex can offer. I would say your best bet is a green tree frog.

If you meant the cuban grey tree frogs, they get HUGE. I have seen one almost 6" long outside my house so they would not be able to live in there either.

Please please do not put a dart frog in a 5 gal hex.

try

Talktothefrog.org

Dendro board is great for all sorts of amphibians. Not just dendrobates.

Talkto.thefrog.org is a good frog forum. Go for the really small treefrog species.

It is mostly centered around darts. It does have another section/ sister site that is not visited a whole lot which is why I suggested talktothefrog.org as well. I am a member of both sites. Talk to the frog is more centered around tree frogs.

I am not disagreing at all just trying to help out and hoping a dart frog does not end up in the tank.

Talktothefrog is a very good site. I loved it years back but then it went offline for quite awhile. I hear a naked guy posted pics and it had to be put offline for awhile.

I agree with the advice get a bigger tank, the bigger the better.

As mentioned already. Most Frogs will utilize more space than you think they will.

More Space means the Frogs will be More Active.

More Space means you can have more plants and branches.

and More importantly more space means more animals.
