How do people/guests react when they see your aquarium?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
We use the conservatory as the didning room, and what was originally the dining room is now our fish room with 3 tanks,2 end to end on one wall,1 6x2x2 and a 4.5x2x2 and on the other side of the room,a 2x2x2 and a sofa, see aro section for some pics,my dad always says wouldnt it be easier to just seal the room and put windows in:ROFL::ROFL:
When any body comes round to visit they always end up in there within 2minutes:D

Any cool stories though?
Most of my tanks are in the basement and I recently got my heater replaced. The guy who did most of the work with the heaters kept looking at the tanks while he was explaining to me what had to be done and how he would do it.He finally asked me about them and asked if he could take a few minutes to look at them before he started working. He told me that he had never seen fishtanks in anyone else's basement before....When guests come over and see the tanks, the first thing they usually ask is how much everything costs, then they ask how much time it takes to maintain them.

The first time my Grandma saw my Sen, she said "Eew, THAT thing??"
She came around, and started asking me about the Sen every time I saw my Grandma... I think my Grandma's gonna feel saddened my Senny's passing :(

When you walk in our house, there's a 180 and a 125 in the living room, and the next room is the kitchen, and there's a 180 in what's supposed to be the dining room. You can see all three tanks from the front door. People are usually say something like, "Wow, you guys are into fish!" or "You've got some fish tanks, huh?"

Then, if they happen to make into the next room over, the room which will soon cease (thank God) to be our bedroom, and be a fish room, which is where the pond is, they usually say bad words. There's something about a big concrete pond that makes people want to curse LOL. I think it's funny.

We sold a protein skimmer on Craigslist last week, and the guy came in and saw the Silver Dollars in one of the living room tanks. He was like, "Look at all those Pacu!" My husband said, "Those are Silver Dollars. The Pacu are in here." And showed him the three in the pond. This guy just burst into expletives. It was great. He said, "I didn't even know they could get that big!" And then used some more choice language.

LOL.Good one.

My bedroom.. is 2 bookshelves.. a bed.. my small computer desk... and 8 tanks.. one on the comupter desk and the rest spread around... forest green walls.. bamboo shades over the windows.. and.. my best friend whos into fish, but not like I am brought her son over w/ her to check out my fire eels when I first got them and my Bichirs and TT eel.. Everytime he comes over now I have the earthworms out and ready. Because the first thing he asks when he visits is if he can feed them all. and Holy cow do thay dance for him as soon as they see him. lol.. It's become a semi-regular occurance. he thinks it's so cool to feed them.

My dad also comments everytime he sees my Oscar.. "he's getting bigger... You wheren't kidding about getting a bigger tank soon where you?"

Usually the Bichirs on the bottom of a tank stand in the corner of my room get the most attentions, dull, brown, and always flitting around to see who's there. And I have a planted tank above them... usually catches peopels eye at first until they notice the movement below.. then they have to bend and see "what is that?"... My baby TT shocked a freind once when he came flitting out to investigate.

Everyone usually leaves shakeing their head.. laughing..

I get mixed reactions. Some are in awe. Some don't care. Most have 1001 questions, which is fine, I like talking about the setups. I have one female friend (buddy's girlfriend) who won't even sit in my living room. She is scared to death of the fish.
