:shark:hey howz it crankin fellas my m8 at my lfs has about 20 dempseyz about 2-3 inches long at $10Au each hes also got chromides At 2inches at the same price is it worth me getn em n hw do i sex em :confused:

p.s im happy with da price considerin i liv in au where u can hardly get arowana n i finally gt 1 35cm for $400
 
hey! well i have my treasured jd and I love to think hes a he.... but dont quote me because I dont know and would love to know as well... but I was told males have more pointy fins and the pink strip on the top is a male.. this I have no clue is true.. the pointy fins I think may be true. Im with you my man!!! I wanna know! mines a big one, I only have one . I also read males have something with a single spot on near their tail im not sure. Sorry couldnt be more help Ill keep checkin back as well and if I find anything else out, Ill post it! good luck!
 
I do know that you supposively cant determine the sex until they are older.. another thing that I have heard

The males get a blue sheen when the light hits them right. You can really see their sheen when you net them. When ready to breed (which is most of the time), their body darkens and their bars turn a dark jet black.
