The best advice i can give you young man is to take your time and get it right. Research is everything in this hobby. You need to go on line and look at the masses of info there is on sumps, there's that much info out there it'll make your head spin. I'm staggered that you said you couldn't find anything, what the hell did you type in!!!

It sounds like mum and dad are footing the bill for your hobby, are they aware of the costs involved, ongoing costs that is, not just a one off birthday treat. Are they aware that when you eventually choose a return pump for example (and might i add this is an area where you NEVER scrimp), are they aware that you'll need TWO of them!! The experienced hobbyist always always has spares, and not just spare return pumps, spare everything. Who's going to "build" this 150g tank you mentioned. You? Parents? Have you a clue what building a tank entails?

Just take a step back, think about each stage of your project, do your research, talk to the guys on the forum and keep your parents up to speed with your wish list. These are all things you SHOULD do. One thing you SHOULDN'T do however is come on the forum and post that all canadian guys have squeaky voices!!!!!

Hahaha priceless, i love this kid.
This right here ^

Ask tons of questions. Not a knock against anyone but this is one area that you wanna make sure the people your listening to have sumps themselves...trust me.

Also ask why. Everyone is going to like the equipment that they are using. But for you just hearing that i love my jebao dc pump or a certain brand of heater isnt enough you need to know why i love em.

The diy youtube guy is great dont get me wrong but your going to find much more info and assistance on mfk. Some of the members here have many many yrs of experience and have no issues talking about their mistakes/failures where that guy....huh ...well what ever.

Use 7 inch (diameter) sock if you can. Much more surface area. I use 4 of them on my tank and depending on how heavy i feed i change them once every wek sometimes 2 weeks.

You dont need baffles or compartments unless your specifically trying to seperate forms of filtration.

The sump itself is easy. The interesting stuff is how the water drains. Theres a few different methods = herbie, bean animal, and durso off the top of my head

Some basic plumbing stuff. Check out the green graph this article. It will help you determine what size pump you'll need.to match the size plumbing based off of said plumbing diameter and gph.

This is why allot of us like dc pumps - thry are adjustable
