how do u sink driftwood?

If you are worried about the rocks falling off the driftwood, and causing problems, take HarleyK's advice and 'tie' the heavy object to the driftwood.

If you are unsure of a type of twine or rope to use in the water, and unsure if it is save.. (ie: Plecos eating rope is no good).. you can use airline tubing, as that is what I have always used to tie off driftwood.

Howdy,

Plecos eat it, it actually helps their digestive system. Regular tablets contain everything from shrimp to spirulina (depending on the variety), but in the wild, they also chew on wood for additional fibers (lignin goes right thru). That doesn't mean they cannot live without it. It just means it's more according to their natural diet and might make them feel more comfy.

with the large pieces i had recelty i just drilled holes in the bottom of each peice and screwed/siliconed perspex to them and covered the perspex with sand and small rocks it worked fine.

Howdy,

call me paranoid, but I am very uneasy about metal of any kind in my tank. Let it be stainless steel, I'd still prefer not to have metal in there.

Metal is not our friend.

Use gold

I've had a cypress knee chunk about 16 inches high and about 6 inches around in mine for about a year. I floated that sum***** for about a week and my tank still gets tannin in the water. Any suggestions? Because doing water changes to keep the tank pretty is getting annoying like twice a month. Plus then I have to rearrange all my slate rocks and faux plants ( I use craft plants from wal mart...wayyyyyyyy cheap. big realistic plants anywhere from about 1.50 to 3.50.) They're silk so they move with the water more realistic than plastic plus my pleco eats most of the real stuff I get. man he's a pig. :D
