Holy crap. Alot of the Mod's are from NJ.... Represent!

There are more than you'd think. Although the wife and I currently hail from MS, we're both former highschool sweethearts from Clifton, NJ.

I agree that the mod crew around here is pretty close due to the amount of time we spend talking to each other.

Aside from the mod end of life, I will say that I have several very good friends from MFK that I have spent years talking to, yet I have never seen face to face.
Others have been a joy to meet and greet in person at various events after countless hours/posts setting things up.

I think the term schmooze gives it a bad connotation. In order to have a staff which functions as a unit, they have to be largely compatable in personality as well. It only makes sense to pick people who get along with each other for the most part.

I, for one, knew very few mods here on MFK before becoming a mod.

As far as I know, they dont get paid, just like all other forums out there. Its simply voluntary. IMO its a lot of time and energy, I would never wanna be a mod.

If you're doing it right.. it is.. You may be the smartest person in this thread.

#1 rule to become a Staff of the MFK... is never ask to be a mod... because the intention and principle will not match our goal.

We don't just pick anyone just because they are "active" or "post alot". We dont use the staff position "hold on to members"

We select our staff by their willingness to help the members and how they handle themselves in all situations..

Finally, Staff are nominated and voted...
