how do you black out your fish pic backgrounds

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
thanks for the help is there a cheaper option?

Spot light and a Polaroid camera?

Dunno about a cheaper option. I know with my point and shoot camera is difficult to take pics of my fish because they are constantly moving. I don't get the sharp, crisp image that a good camera would give me. I know there are a lot of SLR cams on the market ranging from $500 to thousands of dollars. So a lot of research as what you need in the cam, lense, options of the wireless flash are in tow before you can find what you need at a price you can afford.

you can always use photoshop and blacken each pixel one at a time...

As for point and shoot cameras, Take pictures with the flash, but cover the flash. It will give you the quick shutter speed needed to capture the fish. As for lighting, use a spot light for a turtle tank and wait for the fish to swim under it.

so this stuff will automatically black out the background

Getting the camera is just half way there :). You need to play around with Manual function like depth of field, so it will focus on close object and black out the background. It is one time investment so you should get it instead of replacing your point and shoot every few year.

thanks

You do not need a dslr to use overhead flash and you do not need overhead flash to get a blacked out background.

I'll let you guys figure out the details. I couldn't be bothered. ;)

when i had my point n shoot, i got lucky a few times and got a completely black background. but i never got to the point where i could re-create the effect anytime i wanted. had everything to do with luck :)
