How do you buy them ?

How do you choose your future monsters when fish shopping at a lfs or online seller?
Do you have a list of what you want to have ?

Do you : Go window shopping and see what interesting fish are available? / Have a set amount of money to burn and try to find the most interesting fish that matches the price? / Let peer tell you what you do? .. etc.. Post here how ! Monster minds want to know. :)
 
I decide what I want, make sure I have the room, do the research, find a quality supplier or place to acquire one, save the money or if I have the money, I buy it.

Better to do that then to just impulse buy, but I admit I do it from time to time. I think every one has at one point or another.

same. impule by is usually on something rare that i know how to care for, but i buy it just cause its made available
 
Im prone to impulse buys too... if it is a crazy deal or if we are talking about a one of a kind fish.

But if i want something, i stalk it like a prey... find out who has the best stock at the best price.. see if i can get it locally vs shipping or maybe a fellow hobbyist wants to sell one . I also ask my friends if they know someone whos selling one or maybe they have one themselves and would like to trade it off.

Sometimes i enjoy the thrill of the hunt more than the fish itself . Its weird, but true.
 
I pretty much see a fish I like the look of and buy it. Im one of those that loves the current "fad". Like ornios, I bought four of them because they are awsome.

It also depends on if they go ok with my rays. If they do, I'll get them, if not they are a no go
 
after falling out of love with piranha quite a few years ago i decided i wanted the classic monster tank with asian aro,dat,ray etc.
so i knew what i wanted and got them actually twice now.
thats what i do i want something then i get it when i have the money.
i did get other fish on impulse etc but dont do that anymore and only did it a few times.

the scobina is being picked up by sharptooth tomorrow and in a week or so i will go and pick it up from him and give him the money.basically he is buying it for me then housing it until i get my cash sorted so i did not miss out on it.
Dave is a star for doing that.
 
i theres some i know i want
and others i just buy while browsing the lfs if i see something i like i get it if theres room for it if not i rember what it was and sometimes make room for it
