While many bichirs tend to be living logs who only move for meals and the ocassional tour of the tank. They can produce an amazing burst of speed
when the want remember approx 7/8 of it body is muscle.
So the question is ''How Do /Would you Catch Your Bichir"-anne

I usually just set my net down to the bottom of the substrate and kind of slowly ease my net next to my bichers and ease my net over the bicher pin him to the glass and swoop him up works for me

I use bucket...net have a tendencies to get stuck on its sharp finlets..

Now, 20" bichirs is a different stories :) I have use pillow case and scoop them up..

Just like FGW, I use a large enough net, and move slowly so I do n't spook them, and they're actually very easy to catch if you move carefully.

You have to be careful taking them out of the tank, because they will thrash.

I use a bucket, a net or a big plastic thick bag. Sometimes you can move them by two hands by holding the head and the tail and hold it gently and it won't move. Not a good way to catch but if you want to take pics of you holding a bichirs then it will be a good experience. However it need timing and skills to do this or the bichir will twitch and the spines might puncture you. Be careful!!!
