I use a bucket, a net or a big plastic thick bag. Sometimes you can move them by two hands by holding the head and the tail and hold it gently and it won't move. Not a good way to catch but if you want to take pics of you holding a bichirs then it will be a good experience. However it need timing and skills to do this or the bichir will twitch and the spines might puncture you. Be careful!!!
I learned the hard way and the spines drew blood. I had a nice gash from the spine cutting me. Never ever try to catch bichir with bare hand unless you know what you're doing.

Interesting, never knew that.

My delhezi likes hiding in a PVC pipe. I used two nets to cover both ends.

Mine are still pretty small (6") so I let them hide in a piece of pvc then put my hand on one end and the net on the other. You still have to be quick but its easier than chasing them all over the tank.

I use a net most often or use a net to scare it into a plastic bag
Had to use a towel to move my 26" ansorgii
