I learned the hard way and the spines drew blood. I had a nice gash from the spine cutting me. Sometimes you can move them by two hands by holding the head and the tail and hold it gently and it won't move. Not a good way to catch but if you want to take pics of you holding a bichirs then it will be a good experience. However it need timing and skills to do this or the bichir will twitch and the spines might puncture you. Be careful!!!
