How do you catch and move your gars

Yeah that most certainly is a tool that is going to be very very useful. Totally unaware of this particular product up till now.. We have always just erstaz made them and not quite manufactured them as useful as this one on the market now.

Had some early market versions some years back (Many years back actually) that we had around but not as refined as this. I was not overly thrilled with the Cumings design for gar. Had to many "slippers" especially with Longnosed. (Fricking slime machines) They would pop right out of these.

We modified them and then just made our own after that.. Most are pretty old. Going to definitely pick up a few of the Frabill and try them out.
 
i cant seem to find something like the "sling" here in the philippines. are there any alternatives? i have a 30 inch gator still waiting to be moved in a 5'x3'x2' 230 gallon tank. i tried using big black garbage plastics but to no avail as he would break through it with ease. are there any methods for tranquilizing the gar? my friend also had another big gar about 3ft and he used a rice sack coated with a garbage plastic and that seemed to work or so he thought. after the drive and the transfer to the new aquarium, the gar was so stressed and its tail seemed to be sprained. i dont want this to happen to my gator. any suggestions? thanks guys.

i was just at cabelas for the conference...should have taken a look around for something like that, although the store is huge and randomly coming across it is statistically unlikely. we'll have to head down there again sometime soon anyway in prep for this season.

the fact that they can easily attach to a scale is also good...this is sort of what we used in Louisiana. we will need this to get higher resolution weights on the fish this year anyway (this was brought up at a seminar on friday).

anyway thanks for letting us know about this type of equipment, we'll see how it works in the field depending on how it looks when we check it out!--
