heaven is my home
i am about to change out my sand and add new playground sand, which is really dirty and a pain, so i am looking for the best and easiest way to clean the sand. any advice is much appreciated

its not easy but the way i have always done it is,

get a bucket, fill 1/3 with sand then fill with water. mix it up and pore off the dirty water. repeat untill the water is clear then add to the tank and do it again untill you have done enough sand.

takes a while when your doing 75kg! lol. but its worth the effort.
do a proper job now and you tank will be cleaner.

thanks appreciate the info. its going to be a pain, hate hate hate cleaning sand

i just got rid of my playground sand (Home Depot)... I HATED IT

Don't make the same mistake i did haha

go with a heavier sand (pool filter sand or aquarium sand)... play sand stirs up easy. Makes a mess.

My Fluval Filter sucked up about 10 lbs of sand id say over a 4 month period

i got my sand online. it was cheaper w/ the shipping than my LFS, saved about 200 dollars
