Im just wondering how people control nitrates? You arent doing 100% waterchanges so you arent eliminating all of the nitrates, so what else do you do?

i keep pathos, feed lightly and 50% water change when ever i get the chance, usually every other day

Weekly 75% wc and the addition of pothos a few months ago reduced my nitrates from 80ppm before a wc to less than 40ppm

Nice, Im about to add a nitrate filter to my sump. I found it on ebay, its pretty maintenance free, it comes with a pump, and you just change the cartridges every 18 months.

I use aquaripure filter on my well stocked 150. My nitrates are steady at about 5-10ppm. I do change about 20% of water every week to two and replace the mechanical filtration once it begins to overflow in the sump.

Pothos, small but frequent wc's, and a ****load of live plants. Feed very lightly. I think its better to underfeed than overfeed. I also think slightly skinny is better than bloating. Sometimes I go a little overboard though.
