How do you control yourselves?

I'm heading down that path. Addictive and expensive hobby but so worth it. I guess I just figure I can always sort them

Luckily I haven't lost a fish yet but I feel like i'm that guy that's gonna buy 6 more to compensate for the one lost haha

I like to keep 2 srecies or species only tanks that I stock lightly. The fish act more natural with their own kind.
 
I only go when we need something... and when i go my husband is usually with me... so hes pretty good at reining me in... i also have a fish budget... atm I'm saving up my weekly fish money for a few hundred dollar fish... so it will take me a few monthes if i only buy food/supplies ect.... and i learned awhile ago to scale back... when your doing nothing but careing for them and not actually getting ot enjoy them after awhile you'll back off... a few hundred dollars per pop and oddabll fish that need to be special ordered have slowed me down alot... i buy locally now almost exclusively for my daughters comm tank... and thats livebearers.. so i rarely need to stock it with new fish. i can usually get my new fish "fix" by picking out a new male guppy for the tank. yes.. it can be an addiction. But if i run into something rare at the lfs.. my husband usually is the voice of reason, we discuss.. and either it comes home or not ( usually not)
 
When ever in running low on space I just feed my dovii.........
