How do you cut plate glass?

I want to make some tank lids out of plate glass. How do I cut or split it in a straight line?

might want to get yourself a arising block so you can smooth the sharp edges.

glass cutter and a straight edge of some sort. Ruler, yardstick, etc. Use 1/8" glass, it is easier to cut. After you score the line, the piece you want to remove should snap off with a bit of pressure
