How do you ever decide

How does one ever decide which fish to get/cater too?
Personally, I love so many kinds of fish I dont know which ones to get or take home. Channas, cichlids, natives, rays, our ancient guys. Obviously we cant throw them all together only some.
Im planning on getting a 180 g or even a 220 g but what to decide to put in it is so tough.
How many of you have the same problem as me? Ha.

Channas all the way. If only i could keep them they would be my life! Personally i keep whtever fish amaze me. Peacock bass are those fish.
 
I usually decide based on price and upkeep, attitude and where they will be hanging out in the tank, I'm not a fan of mixing fish from diff places so that also plays into it, other then a Bichir in my amazon tank I just love em too much haha

I have one dehizi bichir right now small guy waiting for him to grow up. =) and an electric blue jack that has a great personality.
Im so indecisive. I like from mudskippers to pacus. Wolf fish to gars.
This is is why I use to have so many tanks set up.

Yep, that's why people get more & more tanks

Try making a list of everything you like, sort by compatible groups, and aim for your Most Wanted species first.

Haha I did that myself. Ended up with 6 tanks running sold them all but 1 for the money to buy one big tank haha.
Yeah I guess the list starts. Since I hopefully get a good deal on a 180 with a 90 sump. Super excited!

I'd say the only way to find out if you like a fish, is to keep it. You need exp with fish before you can determine whether you'll like them. Your delhezi will do great with a demspey! They should leave each other alone, my Ornate bichir and peacock bass get along great and a peacock is more aggressive then the demspey. Rope fish are fun, they fly around kinda like Senegal's n beg for foodm, so do the peacocks. Those are the fish I truly enjoy, those that genuinely seem happy to see you, even though you know its just because you are their food source. My Hi Fin red wolf is like that too, he flares his fins at me and flutters when he's hungry

its tough to be honest cause theirs so many different species of fish and all are different. but some of favorite must have fish of all time are lungfish, stingrays, sharks, cichla, cichlids, gars, cat fish, arrowanas and gar. the list can really go on forever. i even like puffers and triggers as well.
