night crawlers are a waste of time if you ask me they are messy and other people dont like feeding them when you are on holiday

its easy to get someone to take care of your fish if all they need to do is throw in a few handfuls of pellets

i use the hikari sinking carnivor pellets (RTC on the packet)

night crawlers are great for freshly imported rays that you cant get feeding once the rays if feeding on the crawlers cut a few up and soak the pellets in the crawler blood over night so they soak up the worm blood

1 or 2 crawlers every now and then but not as a main food
Hikari is actually my food of choice as well, however it is incredibly expensive in Canada. Do you buy bulk? If so where

Neo just sent me 2 x big bags from the US send him a PM he will let you know were he got it from they should ship to canada

they wouldnt ship to the UK so he sorted it out for me :D

well i would say that hikari have spent lots of $$$ making sure the pellets are a complete food thats why they are one of the best selling dry foods world wide

im not saying my rays dont get prawns mussel bllod worm and river shrimp but their main food is pellets

if you like digging up your yard every few days to find enought night crawers to feed a adult ray then go for it

their is everything a ray needs in pellets to grow them to adult size and breed

both my female p14 are fed mainly pellets and both are preg now when my pups were born last time they were feeding on pellets within 2hrs of birth

I wish mine would take pellets or shrimp for that matter

well put David. worms are the best imo as well. i have some rays downstairs I have had for almost 10 years now, their main diet, worms and prawns.
I used to work for omega one fish foods, I was part of their research team for nutrients and protiens, man can only duplicate nature so much.
Bottom line if you want your RAYS to live for along time, feed live foods. If you cant clean up their mess, get rid of your rays and go back to cichlids.

I don't mind cleaning up any messes, but can't see buying them or putting them in the tank if they aren't going to eat them lol. where do I get the pellets? I am still feeding them blackworms and shrimp right now

are Hikari pellets designed specifically for rays? I think not

they are made for all bottom feeding meat eaters

my rays have fed on pellets from pup size to adult breeding size in just over 2 yrs the pups that were born had NO deformatys and none of the pups died

i would say thats prof that the pellets have all the rays need in them would it make you feel better if the pellets had a pic of a ray on it :D

I would have to say them are fighting words  j/k but I my self have been using nightcrawlers and pellets on my motoros and it took me about 3 months to get my motoros eating the pellets and now that they are eating them its better because its cheaper and I know that they are getting vitamins but I will always feed worms because of the high protein and they never refuse them. My tiger and flower rays will not eat pellets no matter what I've been trying everything I'll get the worms rinse them let them sit in water then i crush the pellet and put the powder all over the worms and let the powder sink into the worm for awile and then feed it to the tiger ray so that it can get use to the taste but no luck yet with just the pellet, I guess because they think they're better that the motoros or something  they problably think that pellets are government issue and the worms are cavier, f-ing snotty rays

Night crawlers have grown my tigers from 8" to 18" in a 1yr span
a diet strictly of nightcrawlers seem to do the trick for me I purchase 10,000 a month and they eat 500 a day and no food on the weekends
