I am making a DIY background and I have read that people uses silicone to attach the background to glass tanks. However I have also read that silicone does not work well with acrylic tanks, so what adhesive should I use to attach my background to my tank?

does anybody know i used the search and didnt come up with anything

yes i know about weld on and have used it in a repair but i have a 3d background that i need anchored to the back of my tank. any more suggestion?

Is it really buoyant? Silicone would work just fine unless the background is super buoyant. Silicone bonds to acrylic, just not as well as to glass.

thanks for the info guys

There is a little confusion about silicone wrt acrylic.

While it won't bond well enough to form a pressure tight seal for tank-building, it will bond perfectly well for most other purposes.

So ... fixing rocks, driftwood, treasure chests that you put there just to hear the groans of contempt .... and 3D backgrounds ..... all of that stuff can be fixed with silicone :)
