Crocs and american aligators;) As for snappers you can simply make your turt walk into a conteiner and put the lid on. 100% safe for both. As for handling dont pick them up for the tail, dangerous for the turt
 
I pick my big guys up by the sides of the shell (plastral bridge); they usually don't try to claw me. The main disadvantage to this is that you're putting your hands right on their musk glands. :crazy:

Putting your hand over the front lip of the carapace, as shown in Morse's pic above, also works (on softshells too!) but can be risky. Once your fingers are in place there's no issue, but you have to be careful while getting them there.
 
my snapper is about 6 inches in shell length so she is still young but has never snapped at anyone and the vet said as long as she is handled often she likely wont bite. she still falls asleep in my hands when i get her out, so im sure she has no reason to bite me yet.
