I'm not talking about you fancy guys with a switch that does your water changes for you lol if you've got a simple and relatively inexpensive way to do your WC, I'd like to hear it. my days with 5 gallon buckets are over.. and I don't plan on looking back on them.

In my current tank, I run a hose from the sink to the tank and add prime as I go. and a good little bit at the very end just to make sure. But I recently moved and put my 150 gallon back up again but there's no sink on the same floor as the tank. My nearest water source is the outside hose and it's pretty darn cold out.

Not sure how yours works, but my house faucets could be connected to a regular hose. I just had to unscrew the threaded piece where the water exited. My kitchen sink and the large basin sink I had in my laundry room (like people also have in garages) worked the same for me. I never tried bathroom sinks.

With a little ingenuity and $40, I made an attachement for the outlet of my filter that does water changes for me. Hook up a hose, turn some knobs, water's changed. It's so easy I feel like I'm cheating.

Read about it here!

garden hose about 35 feet to the laundry tub for one, 15 feet with a smaller garden hose to the bathroom sink/fill bathtub/drain for the other.
at least when the weather is too cold to use it for outside plants.

My water change, 50% on a 300 gallon, only drops the temp 10 degrees with outside water, 80-72 degrees is fine for most tropical fish. Drain it by turning on the hose in the tank then shut it off and it back flows
