How Do You Guys Feel About Animal Experimentation

Who determines what is somewhat humane?

we would determine that wouldn't we? I think we should house them in a way that reduces stress as much as possible and make sure their health is maintained.

many animals will die from research, but the way they die should be as humane as possible. like injecting them with something that kills them quick verses just slitting their throats and let them bleed out or something like that

^ I guess there in lies the problem though as well, since for some types of research, say cancer or AIDS, its about long term trial and error with medicines, so how can we be humane about their suffering, especially when we are the ones infecting them with these diseases, and then trying out new meds which we do no know the side effects to?

But to answer the original opening question, being in a family which has had members live with cancer, and knowing that a lot of research on animals speeds up the times in which medical trials on humans can begin (in regards to new medicines), i guess i am indirectly okay with it... Since i still sort of feel there maybe better ways to test out meds without animals in this day and age, although i'm just not sure how effective new forms of medical trials are, or if they can help release these new meds onto the market any sooner...

there is no way to do animal experimentation without suffering.

the way I see it, the best way is to just do it as humane as possible.

I think those who are for it have a general mindset that it must be done for the greater good,...........of humans. countless animals will have to suffer and die so that countless humans can be saved from the results of these testing.

the ones against it have a general mindset that humans don't have the right to deem ourselves above other non human animals and that they have the right to live just as much as we do.

but I believe those opposed to it, themselves, have had headaches, surgeries, medication, treatments, etc that have come from animal experimentation.

I can see both sides but what I find no answer to is, what other solution is there?

My statement about animal experimentation is too gory to post here..but i can leave a suggestion - prisons are full, use people inside for testing...and noone will bother about it or miss them..world will become a bit more safe and beautiful if pathetic human being will be forced to accept such way of thinking "prison = various gore test on people for better healthy future"

^ I guess the problem with that idea is, what happens when an innocent person is sent to jail/prison? Then lets say said person gets infected with AIDS on the grounds of finding a new cure by researchers, and is then later discovered to be innocent and released? Sadly, he/she would still not be able to rid himself of the disease that was given to them even though released from their jail/prison sentance...

That's why I now oppose the death penalty...which I use to support but saw too many innocents jailed.

I'll get back to you later Sumo.

Not all are innocent..confirmed killers, pedos, rapers, daily guests on police stations..they all can go under knife..hell, it can be me who would love to operate with that knife if nobody else would want, even if i would get nickname Dr. Monster by Human Rights or some other such club.. i despise those people like a last notneeded **** on this world (in same class go doctors who are killing animals in the name of science)

I can see where you are coming from, but maybe im a bit of a pessimist and know that any legal system has its flaws... Although i guess in certain cases, where say there was so much evidence that it was an open / shut case with lots of physcial evidence, then maybe.... Although still not sure if i could full agree with it...

There have been many such examples where it was open and shut and then 30 years later the prisoner was released due to new evidence and/or a new test that disproves the previous evidence.

^ yeah, i definitely agree, which is why i said even then i'm not sure i could fully agree with the idea...
