plee-co here, yet for some reason when I feel the need to abbreviate it even further I usually write "plec" which I pronounce in my head as pleK, so why I don't say plek-o I'm not sure...

I've always pronounced it plee-co though...or poop machine if I'm talking to someone who has experience with them
Because you are a Kiwi and in your country PLEKO is pronounced PLEEKO.
Just my 2 cents.
True, most people here say plee-co, I think plek-o sounds funny with our accent...
