Since a community tank often needs different food like brine shrimp, ghost shrimp, and feeder fish... I was wondering how people handle this?

Do you buy in bulk then QT and feed daily from your QT tank? Do you buy weekly?

We've set up a guppy factory and it's just at the stage (5 months later) where babies are becoming plentiful to sustain some of our feeding load. Another couple months and we should be set.

Placed an order for 5 dzn livebearer feeders to pick up today.

Also buying brine & ghost shrimp weekly.

This is on top of omega one, tropical color flakes, koi food, turtle food, blood worms, salad shrimp, sinking pellets, algea wafers, etc etc (about 20 kinds of food in the cabinet).

What's your way of doing things?

I don't buy feeders...I use convict fry for that. I feed frozen bloodworms and spriulina brine shrimp once a week. Only around Thanksgiving and Christmas do my fish get ghost shrimp as a special treat. :D I too have tons of different fish foods under my tank....as a staple I feed NLS though.

I don't know how to not feed a variety.
This is my feeding schedule at night:
big turtle tank gets koi food & turtle bites (the koi is a stable for the turtles), color flakes, omega one, sinking pellets.
community tank gets color flakes, shrimp pellets, algea wafer, bloodworm.
other turtle tank gets reptomin
smaller turtle tank gets reptomin broken up into little pieces and some sinking pellets
adult guppy tank gets color flakes
fry guppy tank gets liquid fry food in the floating boxes and crushed color flakes in the other two sections, also some imitation crab meat for the shrimp to feed on.
feeder fish tank gets gutload powder
crayfish baby tank gets a sliver of imitation crab meat and an algea wafer.
baby bushynose pleco tank gets a couple green beans.

then by the time all that is done, I go turn the lights off and feed brine shrimp to my bgn in the community tank.

this seems way too complicated... anyone care to uncomplicated it?

We feed the ghost shrimp and feeder fish during the day to watch them hunt them down. The ghost shrimp that we buy live temporarily in the fry tank to ration off on as needed basis.

I wish I could get the answer to make this all not so complicated.

I treat my feeders for parasites for a week before feeding them to my fish. They are also fattened up on sinking pellets while they are being treated.

What do you think you are providing by feeding all these other foods that is not already in a high quality pellet?

The hujeta gar and spiny eel (not sure what kind, bought it as a tire track but doesn't look like one) primarily only eat live feede

The fire eel only eats shrimp.
