How do you keep amazon swords alive in your tank

I have a light in my tank but I have a area shaded from the light witch is where my swords are placed should I move them out of the shade or are they alright where they are? I also have them planted in sand is that a prob?

place them in the light, they will do better there. they are the one plant ive kept alive EVER. you will have to take them out and stomp them to kill those things.

In my experience, swords require at least a reasonable amount of light. Add an Fe/K supplement to the tank, and watch it thrive.

I put a chocolate plec in my tank with a sword, ate 1/4 of it in one night, and this is s huge sword. I have had no problems with some plecs though.

First, pot them! Then give them 12 hrs light per day. Do that and they are very hardy.

Get them under the light and go buy some jobes house plant spikes and stuff one under the roots about once overy couple months and it will get huge.

some plecs dont eat plants strictly, and some wont touch them if well fed. others, its just food. in my experience amazon swords were quite hardy and easy to grow

Be careful with the plant spikes - they are designed for terrestrial plants and if disturbed in the tank can release urea into the water column thus creating an algae nightmare. Better for this purpose are the fert tabs made by Flourish. Put one or two around the base of your swords.
