hi, i have 2 baby ebjd that each cost me 33 dollars a pop. and it has been so hot these days that my water reached 86-88 degrees.

how do i lower the water temperature? i tried floating an ice bag didn't work.. then i threw a few ice cubes..nothing either.

Same situation so I had to turn my heater off, its been off for about a week and my temp is pretty steadily 82. Keep tank out of direct sunlight. Keep air circulation in the room. If all else fails buy a Chiller

happend to my tank too. all it did was get my bp and carpintis in the mood;):naughty: but the water slowly cools by itself

Run an aquaponics system .... it will lower the temp a few degrees, because the water is running all over the place in the GB's and then back to the FT. The water evaporates a lot (mine's about 10-15 Gallons per week), and the evaporation causes cooling. Just my 2 centavos .........

use a fan above the tank. freeze two liter bottles, drop them in

Prob might have to go online for a chiller but they are pretty pricey and should be a last resort imo, unless you have some vho lights

Chillers are expensive. Most fish are okay in the upper temperatures for awhile, but it depends on what you keep. The clip-on desk fans work well. Clip them to the top of your tank and angle them so that they're blowing across the water. This is a cheap solution that lowers the temperature a few degrees. I don't have central heat and air, so when it's springtime, the windows are open. As someone else said, all of the fish start getting lovey-dovey. It's funny.

turn off your lights, unplug the heater, and have a large fan. This will work.

You will need to topoff the tank for evaporation more than before though
