This person has a great setup; also under their youtube videos is a video describing the filtration and drip system. You could easily alter it for larger containers, I think!

i done it once this is how i done it
i got 10 plastic critter keepers and drilled through both short sides the hole should be about a quarter of an inch thick then i connected every tank with flexable tubing that fit the holes then i got a 20g storage box and put a few bafles in to separate the media from the pump then i drilled 2 holes one on aither side of the storage box then putted a return pump in the storage box connected pvc tubes to the pump and back up to the first tank then connected pvc tubes to the end tank and down to the sump
fill the sump and turn the return pump on and the water should be pumped up from the sump to the first tank then throgh all the tanks and back down to the sump were it would be filterd then brought back up
