Either way same idea lumens is a useless number in a reef set-up Corals don't see in lumens they see in PAR. PAR is the only way to accurately measure light intensity for photosynthetic organisms. The Real 118;4795249; said:not for plants for a reef setup i have been told that going off of lumens is better then the old way of watts per gallon

I shouldn't have said plants i should have said photosynthetic organisms.
Spend any time on a reef forum like reefcentral and you'll see none of them use lumens it's all done in PAR now.
