How do you MFK'rs deal with small apartments?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm putting a 240 wide in my 1/1 apt, with a 90 and 30. My apt has no restrictions on aquariums. The other thing that helps me is that I dont live with anyone, so I can eat up my living room with a big tank, coutch and sterio without worrying about eating up more space than a gf would be comfy with.

Thats cool, 240 would be awesome! lol yeah 2 fish heads live in this apartment so that is def. not a problem =]

My 150 would def. be here if it werent for the gal restriction. I am just glad they are not completely restricted like a lot of places.

You guys should post some pics of your tanks, Id love to see some of these monsters and how you set them up in your apartments!

lol i dont even use the table to eat thats what couches are for and u can watch tv at the same time

lol well if it works they hey why not!

I have a table b/c its on the floor or one on the floor and one in the chair to eat. The floor is a problem because we have a dog too. She is presistant on annoying you while you eat to get food. We got a table so we both could sit at the table to eat and not have to block the dog and eat at the same time. Plus we are still using the wall space in the dining room for a fish tank anways =]

haha funny! no just two people with a lot of stuff and clothes and not a lot of space =]

That's your problem :D I'm in a 1 bedroom with my girlfriend (800 square feet I think), we have 2 55's (1 to be upped to a 75 shortly), a 75, a 40 breeder, a 30, a 20, and a 5 gallon with a betta in the kitchen. We have two couches, a full size bed, coffee table, etc but not a ton of other extraneous stuff. I'd get some big tanks but if I move for grad school I'll regret it big time.

Yeah I think my apartment is about 600-630sqft. Right now I have a chair, dining table, bed, computer desk and thats it. I am hoping to get a loveseat this week but not sure if its going to work out or not... if it does its my last piece of furniture and the last wall space I have. I'll prob end up with a betta tank somewhere eventually. I dont think 4 tanks is doing to bad =] The closet is where most of our stuff is.... the only other big problem is the kayaks, but they are in the middle of the room and I wouldn't put a tank there anyways, they are just annoying.

Smart move on waiting to get the big tank... better to do it when you know you will be settled for awhile. Those big tanks are a ***** to move.

You need racks! No room? Just go UP!!!

I live in a studio w/ a 180, 150, 110, 65, 55, 40, 30, 20, and a bunch of 10's. Oh, and 2 dogs. Tanks on every wall, 55 and 20 in the kitchen. I will soon be getting a custom stand built to stack the 180 and the 150. 6ft of wall space is a precious commodity.

That makes room for one or two more big tanks! I have two 125's and a 55 in my 840 sq ft townhouse. I thought I was crazy but you guys are making me feel normal.

Haha...definitely...its so tempting. I have this wall that my 55's on that has an extra 2-3 feet on it. A big tank would look great there, but for now, I'm just dividing and conquering whenever the stock is looking to heavy. The biggest I'd go now is a 5' 100 gallon or so. Nothing too heavy.
