Hey MFK,

So, I'm moving about 12 blocks away to a new house, and I just setup my Flowerhorn tank.. any ideas on how to move it without disturbing the environment too much? How to let put my fish in the least stressful position? My flowerhorn is about 3", the water parameters are perfect right now. It's an 80g. Any advice is glady taken. Thankkkkkkkkkk you. :D

Heres a link for pics of the tank if it helps at all..

you gotta drain it buddy, sorry. take out as much stuff as you can as to not stress the tank and move it the way u got it to your house. i just got done moving a 29 gal and a 10 gal. i feel real bad for ya :/

really good looking fish and tank tho!
i have been wanting to get a bigger tank and a FH too.

drain it, put the fish in a bucket, move it, fill it, put fish back in and enjoy. try and save atleast some of the old water that you can move in buckets/tubs.

i moved a 75 and a 180 this weekend no problems or losses.

yeah dude, it's really lame.. i just set it up like 2 weeks ago too.

k, heres my plan so far, please tell me if it sounds okay.

so i drain the tank into 5gal buckets, keep my fish in a bucket w/ heater and an air pump.. move tank, stand, filters to new house.. setup everything, run filters and warm back up the tank.. check parameters and add the fish. (i will be doing a 25% water change) does this sound okay? or am i missing something, i think i can add the water without stirring up the tank too badly. how long do you think my flowerhorn can stay in the bucket for incase... the water parameters aren't too great, and in this case.. what should i do? please any advice is welcome, past expierences? i am moving on friday by the way.. Thanks =)

Sounds fine! He should be OK in the bucket for most of a day with aeration and heat. Put a towel or something dark over the bucket to keep it dark. It will keep the stress down and keep him from jumping out.

i dunno about the heater in the bucket. you prob need someone watching the temp or something. i would hate for you to cook your fish.

Hmm, shouldn't it be ok if i just set the heater to 84 degrees.. won't it stop once it hits 84 and start to just maintain the temp?

i would think so but if your heater is rated for that 80 gal i think there would be MAJOR fluctuations in just a tiny bucket.
