There is no need to cook it, just take off the shell and give it to him, if he is only used to live foods you may use a light feeder stick at the beggining.

ofcourse you dont need to cook it bro:grinno:. but feeding with the shell on is good for your fish. the shell contains lots of nutrients for good color development on aros. just make sure to take the head and the tail off, these areas have spines that could damage your fish's tummy and intestines

Same thing most people have already said:

Feed Raw
Deshell if you like (i do)
No Tails (*important, as the 'spike' can damage internally*)
Bite size pieces

I even throw pieces of raw shrimp into my cichlid tanks, some of my plecos and my bichir really like it as well. Realistically, I think every fish I own tries to get at the shrimp. It is a high protein/energy meal in the animal kingdom!

yeah i agree. and its cheap two, i get a 2lb bag for about $8 and it lasts for a while since my fish are still kinda small. Market shrimp is a staple for my fish, and I give them regular fish food as a treat and for variety. Even then, my indo tiger and clown loaches have gotten to the point where they wont even touch pellets, they LOVE their shrimp.

Oh and I also throw in some frozen foods like bloodworms, mysis shrimp, etc. Does anybody feed stuff like beef heart, gizzards, etc that you buy at the grocery store. Would this be ok for fish?

thats about right, deshell it wash the salt off and injoy watching your fish eat.

mine was on shrimp for a while but no changed to pellets they seem to induce higher growth rate than shrimp. but with out shell i usually freeze mine for a period of time if i had to shell themmyself.

i buy mine from the supermarket

the cheap cooked peeled prawn $4 a bag

i dont even defrost just brake into small bits then throw in frozen

its better frozen as it sinks slower you dont want you aro takeing food from the tank base

why would you want to peel prawns for your aro to eat daily i dont even like peeling them to eat my self

hey when your on a budget they are a alot cheaper pound for pound than peeled shrimp

I feed my jardini beefheart not whole.I put in a food processor
and throw in everything you feed. like pellets, freeze dried shrimp, freeze dried bloodworms, and liquid like vita-chem.Put it in a sandwich bag freeze, smash it flat and freeze it.then break in bite size pieces.my aro and silver dollars love it.
