With mine it depends.

The silvers are generally ok, but if I have to put my hands in the tank or catch something, I know I will have 2 weeks of jumping and hiting the cover whenever I approach the tank. They are histerical for that period.
Strangely, even in the histerical period, they know when it is feeding time.

The blacks are less skittish. More retiring, more hidden, but not prone to histerics when they see me and they're out in the open. Never had any histerics.

My silvers are latino gals.:headbang2 ; My Blacks are german blocks of ice:nilly:

I always enjoy watching your video Meiling, what happened to that magnificent Aro?

He jumped out in the middle of the night. The lids and bricks were still tight on top too, not sure how he pulled it off, but I had turned off the lights completety so he'd get used to dark and he freaked. Losing that one really hurt.

Interesting I never heard of this combo...I personally wouldnt do so but maybe a silver would be a better combo being they are from the same source and all....well, hope alls well in the tank....no sarcassim intended just never seen this set-up.:D

No Mistire..a silver would die in such company, sooner or later...a jar may just pull through, imo...any way it is a combo done by soeone who doesn't care for the jar...again, imo..

So what do you guys mean when you say your Aro won't let you near the tank? I mean, what do they do, just super spazz? To the point of injuring themselves? For awhile I was almost afraid of this one, he whips around and faces me and I would think things like "Gee, has anyone's Aro ever attacked them when they were cleaning and bit them?" I bopped mine on the nose a few times.

The late Gu Kaan got so bossy and pushy that I made a post here last year and someone told me to actually slap him. I had to do it too, about 3 different times. Then he learned to jump, he was a terrible jumper. Everytime I opened the top, out came the Aro full speed. One day my hands were busy with the hoses and I was leaning over and he jumped straight into my forehead, gave me an actual bruise with his hard head. So after head butting , I did slap his a**. It was funny.

You have a Leichardti with a what? Didn't catch it......

My silvers, if it is not feeding time and I approach at a pace that they don't "like", freak out! Pure and simple.

Its good to know that some of your aro's are bold and fearless. My australian jardini ~7" is completely skittish! I've done 6 water changes and it always goes to the extreme end of the tank and hides in a corner. It used to stay there for over an hour even after I was done with the water change, but that has become progressively shorter. But I guess its better than the damn fish jumping out and hitting me in the forehead. kakaka

my arows are calm, like me touching them, its funny iremember my silver slid over my hand on purpose haha

unless the water level gets uncomfortably low they are fine, no problems with touching or removing removing them when they are in the way. no problems catching other fish or replanting etc.

if I try to clean the glass all hell breaks lose and I have aros everywhere, same when trying to catch them.
