wow... so sorry to hear about this... that must have been a terrible blow...

hmmm thats the last time i'm throwing in half of a whole carrot! guess from now on i will give him tiny portions of veg and not big chunks! good thing he was only eating a tiny bit of it each day.

How big was your royal? did he eat meaty foods?

ya it was.. it made me question myself if i should still keep royals....

I GUESS pesticide might have an issue.. i know u wont have to worry about that Neervana, i lived in England for my exchange program in college to know that everything u guys have in markets are organic... i do miss england...

Anyways.. it was at least 6" it grew maybe an inch when it was with me... (9 months) so ya.. it sucked... :(

i have had two plecos die from organic veggies, they just over eat until death so watch the amounts for sure. Some plecos are like puppy's,they just don't know when to stop.

thanks for confirming that with me.. i was afraid that it wasn't true.....

Ya.. i guess it was just unlucky... i didnt think about it until i remember oddball's story about how his royal pleco died.. i guess they are just like Gold fish... too much food leads to sudden death... :(

mine took some time to get used to the veggies, but give it time. he'll start to eat it. mines loved zuccini its a little cleaner than cucumbers. you dont get all of those seeds that they dont eat on the bottom of the tank. also mines love to eat sinking massivore along with grazing on wood.

I find mine go for carrots a green peas over any other veggies i drop in.

Between the group they go through a pound of green peas in one feeding.

he needs fiber hahahah jk donno

wow, guess a few people having the same experience confirms it then! i never imagined that plecs could die from over feeding on veggies. i wonder if this is the same for wood? although on a few websites i read it helps with their digestive system. dunno if this is true

WOW... I am now is a bad postion...

My Royal loves him some cuc's. I was hesitant to feed them since they are lower in nutrition than other veggies available, but he won't touch anything but the cuc's. I did try zuchinni this weekend which he ate, but the Clown loaches bullied him out of the way.

Was totally unaware of the hazards of overeating. i was giving him a quarter of cuc a day. He is only 4-5" and eat it all.

What would be a good weekly schedule for feeding them?

Sorry to derail a little Nervanna......
