How dumb are some fish keepers

I have to also agree that here anyway bp at that size are easily $40-$60 and at one store someone was selling a lyonsi at 5" for $15. Maybe in the ops area is different but seemed like a fair trade to me and no reason to get offended if you dont particularly like the fish offered. I recently trade a bp for a oddball datnoid. Heres a 1-2" dat is $15-$20 and bp also $15-$20 in lfs. The man wanted a bp does that make him dumb because some people think datnoids are much more "popular"? No he got a fair trade and was not offended at all and far from a "dumb" person.

I think the two species look SIMILAR, not alike but close. Also I have no desire whatsoever to own a lyonsi, or a BP for that matter. It's not my preference, does that make me wrong? The value of anything is what the buyer and seller place on it, and they won't always agree. On the other hand can you fault someone for trying to get a good deal thinking you might not know better? If the trade went the other ways and went through would you be on here bragging about the awesome deal you just made?

I would never offer a common fish for a fish that is endangered or rare to come by in my area so I would never brag

I know what your saying and like I have said that in my area a 5" lyonsi (IF IN A LFS) Would be like a $100 but a blood parrot at 7" would only be about 40 bucks

Is this the fish you are speaking about? The ones in your post look like they are part convict, unless it is just poor picture quality. They do look similar. Here is a link to a website selling them for $8.50. I think that one mans trash is or is not another man's treasure.. :nilly:

I think you need your eyes checked.....It looks nothing like a convict pair.....

Id take a lyonsi over a ugly BP anyday.

nice Lyonsi Btw have one myself, really like him :)

My point is that the original post pics look more like convicts than this pic. This pic looks nothing like a convict. But the other posts did look more like convicts... im just saying. My opinion is based upon the fact that i dont raise these, therefore just looking at them i thought they looked like convicts too. Even if they are endangered. Its not like there is a sticky note pasted to their butts saying endangered. I just think it is easy for a fish owner to be more anal because he knows these details. Its like me and my love for kirin parrots. I spent 40 bucks on one just because of my interest and knowledge on them. But i wouldn't call someone dumb because they don't know anything about them. I sure wouldnt trade but i wouldnt be posting a thread about how dumb they were. They were simply uneducated in their knowledge of your fish. :)
