How fast do bichirs grow?

I've had mine since last Aug. Was 2" now only 4". It's an albino sen. I hear they grow slower & don't get as big.
Looks just like the one above.

raw just peel the shell off and cut to bite sized pieces-Anne

Correct, but although polypterus have teeth, they are evolved for holding on, not for slicing or tearing. Because of this, they also evolved a method of using brute strength to rip apart a meal too large to swallow. So a large piece of shrimp that's too small to death roll, but too big to swallow, can kill them.

My senegals have been growing insanely fast on a diet of sinking shrimp pellets, bloodworms, chopped earth worms, and blackworms. Since starting on the blackworms about a week ago, they actually seem to be growing faster. All three of them constantly have thick chunky bellies full of blackworms now.
