Yes, even if you breed them yourself feeders should not be the staple of their diet.

Some quality pellets will get eaten up fast and provide proper nutrition. The more varied the diet the better.

Make sure you feed the babies and adults often everyday when hungry so they will grow as fast as possible. The oscars will be able to put 20 or 30 adult guppies away in one feeding. You will need bigger feeder fish for adult oscars or better use prepared pelleted food

oscars are so easy to get on pellets I do not think it is worth the trouble trying to breed feeders. And plus it takes alot of work to breed guppies when trying to get the most out of it.

oscars will eat anything you throw in the tank.
a good diet for them if you can believe it is dog food.
it has all the nutrients and things they need.

I would get a breeding tank where you seperate the females and the fry at birth. You can purchase these at your local fish store. Just keep the babies in the breeding tank until they are too big too get eaten. In a breeding tank putting the females in too early is better than too late. Oh yeah, you should get the same amount of males and females.
