By the way JDs dont fair well with Mbuna in general..i tried it before and it ended badley for the JD.
However you can keep them with selective Africans..
I have my ebjd with Electric Blue Haps, Livingstonii, Dragonblood Peacock and 6 Yellow Labs (also with parrots, severums) , they all live peacefully in a high PH tank.

i bought a red devil and a jaguar at the same time and size. The jag is alot smaller then the red devil already and its only been 1 1/2 months. Both started at 4inches. I thought the jag would grow quicker because of the overall size they reach.
I would of thought so as well with the jaguar,I have seen a jaguar that was 4 inches,grow to 7 inches in 3 months.It comes down to what you feed the fishes,maintaining the tank,ect.That is why My JD grew quite big,compared to when I first bought him.which he was small,now he is close to being large.
well my well water starts out with high nitrates but my other fish grew quick fast. I feed them feeders once every two weeks just a couple and omega one pellets and krill during the week. The red devil is a pig and the jag just eats alittle. I guess the nitrates are affecting the jag more?? will nitrates slow growth??
It is possible he isn't get his fair share of the food,since the red devil is hoarding more of it.Krill will really help with their growth actually and other things,cause my fishes eat krill,bloodworms,waxworms,flakes at times,rosie fishes,minnows,beefheart,and cichlid delight.
im planning on starting a feeder projects for them.... what will these guys prefer and ideally benefit from .. ie convict fry.. i realise breeding food i will onli feed them like 1 per week ish
Well,from what I noticed is my Oscar doesn't seem to care for rosies anymore,after giving him minnows that were 3 to 4 inches.So stick with one type of feeder fish if you can,instead of a variety,cause they may or may not end up eating them again,after having something better.
My three Electric Blue + Gold morph JD's are just like you say still in the 1.5" to 2" range after six months. They have grown around an inch each. The EBJD in my Avatar is over 6" and started at around 1" a year ago.
Got my Jd 14 months ago 1.5" and now he is only 5" never seemed to put any size on i blame inbreeding!
