How fast do oscar's grow?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
He will probably be around 9 inches in a year. Around 1/2-1 inch a month, but the grow slower the bigger they get

not really a quick grower imo,
mine is four years old and is about 12" and chunky, but did take a while, id say approx an inch every couple of months.
also saying that he was one of four, and the other 3 never had the appetite hes got, so never grew as much. theyre all gone now but hes still strong as ever.

i got them the same time as my black belts and they grew quicker marginally.

i know this isnt too specific but hopefully it give a rough idea.

I'd go with about 3/4 inch per month once they get going, after about 8'' they do slow down a lot. They do keep eating though.

they can grow around an inch per month till they're about 10in. if you feed them beef heart they will grow even faster. the MOST IMPORTANT thing for growth is water quality. do your water changes!!!

With plenty of water changes and good quality food 1-2" a month up to 10-12 then there growth slows

If you lost 3 out of 4 and it took 4yrs to hit 12" then you have water quality issues for sure.I've kept many an o and they hit 12" in the first 1-2 yrs

^ Yes, easily 1' in a year if conditions are good.
