How fast does Java fern grow?

You just have one of those spiral compact fluorescent bulbs? I don't think that will be nearly enough light. It may be equivalent to a 60W incandescent, but that's because the incandescent bulbs are incredibly inefficient in comparison.

The plants have been growing by the day with the bulb. its a standard 30 gallon long 36 inches . 1 -14 watt bright light bulb which in theory is 60 watts of light.

Your right in theory its garabage for plants but its great . The soft white was garbage

I did buy the sunlight version of the bulb last week but it did not work was dead and will return it this weekend. Will try another.

Also CF lights are ususally a bad temp (Kelvin rating), unless you purchased one specifically for aquaria.

Lol yes they dont even list the kelvin rating I agree . However best bulb I ever had .

I dont work for the bulb co lol . I plan to change substrate this weekend as plants are trying to spread but stuck due to the pebble type substrate.

Tank wasnt for plants its for darters but might as well do both
