I agree with the others, more flow is needed.
Areas in the Rio Atabapo where rheophillic species are found have very strong currents providing highly oxygenated, low pH water.
For rheophillic species I keep I use a sump with a pump of over 1000 gph recycling, and add some type of powerhead with either a venturi tube, or to aim flow toward the surface to aid in oxygenation.
This is the flow from my sump , hitting the tanks surface..

Below a powerhead below the surface, rated about 800gph

below influent with venturi action

what is the name of the powerhead youre using? and is the picture inside the tank of the powerhead or outflow of sump?

do you think its worth changing? i add peat to some of my geo tank filters because theyre wild caught but i just kinda figured the pike was bred in captivity.
add the peat. Being bred in captivity doesn’t remove the most basic native water requirements. Oscars area great example of captive bred soft water fish that have health issues down the line when not given the correct water parameters

would a tetra whisper 100 be suffecient? i usually only use the whisper 10 even in my large tanks for sponge filters (i know this is really inefficient as far as energy use is concerned but they seem to get the job done)

For an air pump, yes.
and between the airpump and a hob filter only rated up to 60 gallons would that be okay or would i still need a powerhead?

For oxygen it’s fine. Neither would add that much water current
but the current isnt actually important to the health of the fish is it?

Riverine cichlids from rheophillic areas of flow constantly work against linear flow.
In nature you hardly ever see obese pike cichlids, but they are very common in aquaria.
My powerhead is at about a foot of depth, and with the surface flow, pushes (aims) water flow along the length of the tank, in the same manner in which rivers flow.
